Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a condition characterised by chronic diarrhoea and/or constipation, abdominal cramps and bloating. The cause of this syndrome or collection of symptoms is often unclear and rightly or wrongly is frequently associated with anxiety and stress. However, as IBS is regarded as a medical condition, it's important to consult your doctor first for information, advice and a diagnosis.

As a diagnosed sufferer of IBS you may identify with a lack of confidence around being able to manage and control your bowel, especially during those important or stressful occasions. You may also feel at a loss as to how to manage the condition on a day to day basis. There is perhaps no clearer demonstration of the mind-body link than in IBS, where your unconscious brain can create a powerful physical reaction in your body, unfortunately not one that is necessarily helpful to you.

Can you imagine a life free from those embarrassing and debilitating symptoms that seem to dominate your life?

A number of clinical studies have offered some evidence that suggests hypnotherapy may be an effective complementary treatment for your IBS. The use of hypnotherapy may also provide some relief if you suffer from other symptoms which have been associated with IBS such as nausea, fatigue, backache, and urinary problems. The use of hypnotherapy to treat your IBS will involve progressive relaxation, soothing imagery and suggestions designed to decrease your gut sensitivity and improve your confidence.

Improvements in overall well-being, quality of life, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhoea, and bloating have been noted in many cases.

Get in touch today and find out how you too can benefit from a course of hypnotherapy.
