What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is the induction of a trance like state either through self-hypnosis or under the guidance of a trained hypnotherapist. You may not be aware that trance is in fact a naturally occurring state that everyone experiences regularly on a day to day basis. Daydreaming is very similar to light hypnosis and you are more than likely familiar with many of the trance-like states we experience daily: the driving trance, the exercise trance, the book reading trance, the meeting trance... to name but a few.

Hypnotherapy is subject to many misconceptions and, contrary to popular belief, does not create a state of deep sleep or one where you lose control of your actions or behaviours. More importantly, hypnotherapy can in no way force you to do anything you are not comfortable with, but can create tremendous feelings of empowerment. During a hypnotherapy session you will actually be in an enhanced state of awareness and one where your attention is narrowed and focussed on the subject matter you have chosen to explore.

Through the imaginative use of hypnotic language patterns and metaphors I will be able to guide you in to a deep state of relaxation. As your focus on my words increases and you experience an increasing state of calm, you will be able to move your attention away from your analytical conscious mind to your more intuitive and deep seated unconscious mind. It is here, deep in your unconscious, that the most profound and enduring changes in beliefs and behaviours will occur.

All sessions are conducted in a safe and supportive environment fostering an empathetic atmosphere in which you can explore your thoughts and feelings in comfort and without judgement.

Hypnotherapy can be used alone or in conjunction with NLP to help you achieve positive and profound changes for a range of issues such as; IBS, weight loss, menopausal symptoms, anxiety, stress, phobias, panic attacks, low self-esteem, chronic pain, confidence, insomnia and general health, wellbeing and healing.
